We Seem to Have Lost, We Have Not Lost

At times it feels like Western Civilization has fallen.

The signs are everywhere. There are attacks on life at every stage of human development: abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide, voluntary and involuntary euthanasia.

Then look to the widespread infringements on our liberties; corporations grooming children & the ephebophiliacs who frequented Epstein’s private island, are walking free.

(Ephebophilia: the sexual preference for mid-to-late adolescents.)

The TikTok video (link below) is of a small boy on stage at an adult drag queen convention.

He is dressed normally but can be seen taking money for his ‘performance.’

This is grooming.

New ‘Religions’ are ascendent.

These include the cults of Critical Race Theory & Gender Studies. For a while we had Saint Greta of Climate Change, but she is overshadowed by the ‘martyrdom’ of George Floyd.

Some readily admit to practising Satanism.

These “advances” are pushed at us every possible way. Even kindergarten children are being taught this ‘stuff’ by some teachers. The rest of us are fed it daily at work or through TV and (Anti)-Social Media. Too many people feel completely lost amidst the ~8 billion other souls on planet Earth.

Much of this has arisen out of the deliberate promotion of three (warped) philosophies:

a. Relativism - Wikipedia; b. Neo-Marxism - Wikipedia, and, c. Neomodernism - Wikipedia.

Now we must doubt everything, even our most fundamental right: the Right to Life.

“If it's just you alone, you're not as much of a threat.”

It seems strange to quote a fictional character — Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter: The Order of the Phoenix — but J.K. Rowling has great insight into the human condition.

Luna brought Harry solace with her unique (Ravenclaw) wisdom while he was feeling lost and alone: “Well if I were You-Know-Who, I'd want you to feel cut off from everyone else; because if it's just you alone, you're not as much of a threat.”

This is exactly how people are feeling in our crazy world — cut off and alone!

At the end of the Order of the Phoenix, Harry realized the answer was right before him: “One thing Voldemort doesn’t have — something worth fighting for!” Fighting for each-other, friends and family — a powerful profession of Faith, Hope & Love!

A message from Irish history?

The Anglo-Norman invasion of Ireland started in 1169 and lasted till the formation of the Irish Free State, 1922. British Rule was brutal: consider The Great Famine (up to 1,500,000 dead of starvation & disease) Penal Laws and the Black & Tans. What other country has survived a 700-year invasion?!

Ireland had some minor uprisings (e.g., the 1798 Wexford Rebellion) but the real push for Independence came with the 1916 Easter Rising / Éirí Amach na Cásca where 1,250 patriots faced 16,000 British troops and 1,000 Royal Irish Constabulary, at the General Post Office primarily.

“We have not lost.”

Pádraig Pearse continued to lead the uprising after James Connolly was injured. When captured and sentenced to death, he proclaimed:

“We seem to have lost. We have not lost.

To refuse to fight would have been to lose; to fight is to win.

We have kept faith with the past, and handed on a tradition to the future.”

Pearse had a long-term view of what they were trying to achieve: “We have…handed on a tradition to the future.”  He knew that to give up, was to fail.

When Pearse said “to fight” he was not saying that everyone must take up firearms. He was saying we must continue working hard for what we believe in. We must resist oppression: even though we may not see the end result.

The Pro-Life Movement

Opposing fundamentally immoral issues of abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide, voluntary euthanasia & Suicide-on-Demand, is keeping faith with the past, and handing on a tradition to the future. It takes time & effort. When we fix these issues, many other problems will change too.

The American Pro-Life Movement has continued to fight for the unborn though Roe v Wade became law in 1972: now 50 years ago! A Supreme Court decision appears to be coming down against Roe (from what was released) but we are still far from a final victory.

Euthanasia and assisted suicide have made enormous gains in Australia & Canada and assisted suicide is now being considered in Ireland, Scotland and Britain. We have not lost the fight unless we give up!

Pro-Lifers, speak out!

Perhaps join a Pro-Life group; write a letter, or an article; maybe demonstrate (like the Students for Life, above); support moms & babes in need or visit some elderly shut-in and for sure, Vote Pro-Life! (Or go into politics yourself!) This is how we fight for each-other, our friends, family and community! This brings meaning to our lives and re-connects us with people.

The British (and Voldemort!) finally discovered the poignant truth of Mark Twain’s witticism:

“It’s not the size of the dog in the fight: it’s the size of the fight in the dog!”

Let’s show them what Pro-Lifers can do!
