To the dismay of anti Catholics, even though this ruling is for all religion, New York’s efforts to place restrictions on people of faith has been struck down 5-4 by the US Supreme Court.
The decision rightly pointed out that no such restrictions existed upon places where shopping us still taking place.
Justifying the decision, the court stated ‘The State's discrimination against religion raises a serious First Amendment issue and triggers heightened scrutiny, requiring the State to provide a sufficient justification for the discrimination’.
Brought forth by the Diocese of Brooklyn, the decision is a light for other jurisdictions around the world where churches are being targeted while everything from abortion clinics to tv studios remain opened.
