Dublin Airport caused controversy today with a bizarre tweet that used the name of Jesus as a punchline.
The under fire airport, which has faced lengthy delays this week, was responding to a tweet which asked about the lack of sausages available for sale at the airport.
Their bizarre response stated:
No, but did you know that if you say 'Jesus' backwards it sounds like sausage.
The bizarre tweet unleashed a storm of criticism, with many asking why they had to invoke the name of Jesus for laughs.
Catholic Arena reached out to the DAA for comment, a spokesperson told us the following:
The tweet was a light-hearted response to a light-hearted question and was in no way intended to be disparaging about anyone or anything. Any attempts to link the tweet with religious hatred or prejudice of any kind are disappointing and spurious
