The show trial of Cardinal Joseph Zen will take place today in Hong Kong.
Zen has been charged with failing to register a charity, a move designed by the Chinese Communist Party to exact revenge on anyone even remotely related to pro Democracy protests in the past two years.
This week, Chinese Communist Party dictator Xi Jinping refused to meet with Pope Francis in Kazakshtan, evidently the Pontiff wanted to plead the case of Cardinal Zen.
In a recent interview, Synod head Cardinal Hollerich said of Zen “Of course I respect him but people [in China] say that every time Cardinal Zen speaks up, they get persecuted.”
Pray for Cardinal Zen, aged 90, who will almost certainly be denied a free and fair trial by the Commies.
Just don’t expect Mary McAleese to speak out about it.
