In a stunning escalation of rhetoric, Ireland’s ruling Fianna Fail party have compared Armenians facing genocide to the British in Northern Ireland.
Terry Leyden, who is line to becoming the country’s Azerbaijan consul, made the incredibly insensitive remarks to the Irish Independent after criticism over the state’s red carpet treatment for the terrorist regime in Baku.
He said:
They reclaimed their rightful territory, which is their right. If east Donegal, was occupied by the British or the coloniser, what would we do?”
The incendiary remarks come as Leyden told the paper that he is in talks about becoming Ireland’s consul to Azerbaijan.
Ireland’s over the virtue signalling with regards to the Ukraine War can be seen for what it is with their cold and calculating response to the plight of Armenian Christians. To oppose Russia is a good way to court favour with the bigger countries of the world, there is no such benefit to be gained by supporting Armenians, so they get left behind.
