With reference to Nancy Pelosi’s appeal to Rome about her bar from receiving Communion, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone noted in an interview with Raymond Arrayo that:
“I can say that there’s been correspondence with the Vatican, but I was instructed that it's to be kept strictly confidential."
The interview occurred on 12 December 2024 and the Archbishop goes into greater detail about his decision not to admit her to Communion, but says nothing more about the decision from Rome. He also discusses his plan for celebrating Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Obviously, the Vatican has to walk a fine line between an Archbishop and his parishioner (who is a very powerful politician.) Silence on the issue might be very wise.
Personally, I will not be surprised if Pelosi claims that the Vatican has allowed her to receive Communion. Sorry, but I won’t believe a word out of her mouth!
