There are several reports on X / Twitter suggesting that Saudi Arabia has banned Imams from praying for Palestine — or even mentioning Palestine in their sermons — in mosques, especially at Makkah and Madinah.
Allegedly, Saudi says that there is no place for 'political slogans' in Hajj in Makkah and Madinah. It was also reported that Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman said he personally doesn’t care about Palestinian issue.
A Google search showed only one report of a similar issue coming from the Times of India in November 2023. The Times said that Saudi was detaining individuals at the holy sites for showing support for Gaza and praying for Palestine …The head of religious affairs at the Grand Mosque, Abdul Rahman al-Sudais, advised against explicit comments or gestures regarding the war in Gaza.
Obviously, this will need further confirmation.
