Evangelical Christian Jimmy Carter R.I.P.

Jimmy Carter — previous US president James Earl Carter Jr. — was laid to rest yesterday.

MSM has focused on his legacy and the fact that Trump chatted amiably to Obama as they sat beside each other at the funeral. Here I note a couple of small points relating to Jimmy’s Christianity.

History is not looking favourably on Jimmy’s presidency, but he did live his faith. He was a Baptist, though changed denomination within the church in 2000. Coming after Richard Nixon his religion obviously influenced his election, but it also guided his life and his decisions. Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter were the longest-wed presidential couple at 77 years!

Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished. She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.

The Jerusalem Cross

Anti-Christian bigot and liar, Senator Elizabeth Warren recently accused the nominee for Head of the Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth, as being an “insider threat” because — amongst other reasons — he has tattoos of the Jerusalem Cross and “Deus Vult”! She claims that this is “a Christian expression associated with Right Wing Extremism.”

Perhaps…but more so it is a regular expression of our Christian faith. Many pilgrims to the Holy Land get this tattoo and by coincidence, I recently made a Rosary using a Jerusalem Cross.

The Rosary I made a few days ago!

This is the sort of discrimination that true Christians face in Washington — unless of course, they are rabid Pro-Aborts like Biden and Pelosi.

The curious point is that Jimmy’s memorial service was held in the National Cathedral in Washington (before being laid to rest beside his wife in Plains, Georgia.)

The coffin was placed over an image of the Jerusalem cross in the Cathedral, and the Jerusalem Cross was printed on the front of his funeral program! (Also in the title photo.)

Imagine

During the service, country singers Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood — good friends of the Carters — sang John Lennon’s ‘Imagine.’ One wonders who selected this song for the funeral of a devout man.

“Imagine there's no heaven, It's easy if you try, No hell below us, Above us, only sky, Imagine all the people, Living for today. Imagine there's no countries, It isn't hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for, And no religion too.” [my bold]

Volunteerism

Way into his retirement, Jimmy worked hard for Habitat for Humanity — even after being injured!

Rest in Peace, Jimmy!
