After the dissolution of the monasteries by King Henry VIII, the splendour of Medieval Catholic England was mostly lost forever.
Some of the wonderful cathedrals of that period did survive however, passing into the hands of what became the Anglican Church.
In recent years, many of these churches have become scandalously bored with their original intention.
In Norwich Cathedral, a massive ‘Helter Skelter’ was installed. Why? They would tell you that it was to invite people in to the building and to become familiar with it. But boredom seems the more likely answer.
In Rochester Cathedral, crazy golf took the place of pews.
Now, a dinosaur exhibition has taken place in Peterborough Cathedral.
The beautiful and historic church has been transformed into an irreverent Jurassic Park style amusement.
The only thing to be said here is simple, if they are bored with these cathedrals, why don’t they just give them back?
