400,000 Quit Ultra Liberal German Church

The inception of a ‘Synodal Way’ was supposed to usher in a new springtime in the German Catholic Church, instead it has coincided with mass apostasy.

In 2023 alone, over 400,000 people officially left the ultra liberal church.

Some of these people leaving are doing so because of the controversial church tax, others because of abuse cases while many are simply leaving out of apathy.

Others perhaps out of uh, liturgical preferences.

The numbers of priests, the numbers at Mass, the numbers in just about every way are in freefall.

There are shoots of hope though.

Many young people in Germany are involved in innovative new initiatives to attract others into the faith and in large cities like Cologne, Dusseldorf and Munich they have reported having success.
