Irish doctors have universally rejected efforts by politicians to force them to euthanise their patients.
A jaw dropping biased report was published by members of Fine Gael, Sinn Fein and the Far Left People Before Profit party.
In it, they recommended beginning the road to a Canada like system where those with any form of illness, disability or difficult circumstances are forced into choosing to be euthanised by a doctor, taking up to an hour to die in most cases.
The College of Psychiatrists has expressed their dissatisfaction with the highly discredited document.
They were joined by the Royal College of Physicians, who were equally scathing.
Politicians have also waded into the battle, with Committee Chair Michael Healy Rae and Senator Ronan Mullen speaking in public about a minority report that they co-authored with Robert Troy.
At least one Fine Gael member of the committee was said to be absolutely fuming that the government’s wishes were being challenged.
With the government on its last legs, do they have the fight to pass a bill based on an instantly discredited report by partisan politicians?
Only time will tell but you would have to think even Simon Harris can see the writing on the wall for this issue.
