If you were an outsider arriving to Ireland last week, you could be forgiven for believing that the country was in the midst of a far right uprising.
As it happens, it is not.
But it is seeing a marked rise in Islamic Terror groups.
The Irish Examiner reports today that an ISIS offshoot known as Islamic State Khorasan Province are growing in Ireland.
Their report stated that 60 cases of terrorist financing are investigated by the Special Branch each year.
They also wrote:
Key individuals involved in violent Islamist groups number in the “low double figures” in Ireland while known supporters of such groups number in the “higher end of double figures”;
In recent years, a number of high profile cases have occurred involving extremists linked to Islam, including one leading to the beheading of two gay men.
