Protests Against Late Term Abortion in Ireland

The year 2020 began with Simon Harris fabricating stories about prolifers intimidating pregnant women outside Irish Maternity Hospitals and it now ends with the news that Harris and his cronies are responsible for the most reprehensible of news, babies being born alive and left to die.

After this gruesome news was exposed a number of weeks ago, prolifers organised a day of demonstrations to draw attention to what Harris, Stephen Donnelly and various others are responsible for, having voted specifically to reject amendments that would prevent this from happening.

On Saturday December 6th, various offices of TDs were picketed by those hoping to draw attention to this fact, alongside other venues.

At Leinster House, a crowd gathered with signs stating ‘Babies born alive after abortion left to die’.

Another protest took place at the offices of James Lawless in Sallins. Lawless, like Simon Harris and Simon Donnelly, lied about being prolife to get elected, then became extremely pro abortion once elected. Lawless once even condemned Fine Gael for doing the same.

Lawless appeared with Bishop Denis Nulty last year at an event in Sallins Parish, opening a playground. This is quite repulsive considering his involvement in voting to make sure that babies born alive are left to die in abortion.

The protest outside Lawless’s office will hopefully be the first step towards him losing his seat at the next General Election.

Other events took place in parts of Meath, Cork, Leitrim and in other counties. At the Dublin event, the Life Institute’s Niamh Ui Bhriain told the crowd that this was the first of many actions to come. With leglislation up for review soon, let’s hope people continue to get involved. Babies are being murdered inside Maternity Hospitals, the world needs to know.
