The Irish abortion regime is currently facing an existential crisis of sorts. Despite being hailed by Irish politicians as being the ‘envy of the world’, reports this week have stated that the system could be close to ‘collapse’, with misdiagnoses leading to healthy children being destroyed.
The Irish Times quoted a report into the chaotic regime this week by stating: “There are parts where I have real concerns that the service could collapse because it is just not sustainable in its current form. It’s a consultant-led service and there aren’t very many consultants.”
In the Dail this week, Peadar Toibin TD asked the founder of the Social Democrats, Stephen Donnelly, about these cases of misdiagnosis, asking:
The number of persons who are taking or have taken cases against the State alleging that their unborn baby was wrongfully diagnosed and subsequently aborted; the number of claims notified to the State Claims Agency; and the number of cases ongoing and the number of cases which have been settled.
Donnelly, the founder of the ultra pro abortion Social Democrats, said in response:
It is inappropriate to provide the years of claims as to do so could have the effect of identifying individual cases. The SCA has two ongoing claims from persons alleging that their unborn baby was wrongfully diagnosed with a condition sufficient to bring them within the scope of the Health Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy Act 2018.
In total, there have been 133 personal injury claims, including claims in respect of clinical negligence since the launch of the ‘service’.
