A number of high profile attacks on French churches have hit the headlines in recent years.
These often involve statues being smashed, occasional desecrations of the altar and in some cases, arson.
Despite promises by Emmanuel Macron to help churches to be safe and afford restoration, yet another major church has been attacked, this time in Rouen.
In a video uploaded to social media, with subtitles added by Catholic Arena, the priest spoke of the attack:
