The beheadings may have subsided for now, but French Catholics are still enduring arson attacks, threats and harassment on a daily basis.
In recent weeks, the stabbing of a number of children in a French park reminded many of the violence that many Christians face in the country. Journalists initially gleefully acclaimed that the assailant was a Syrian Christian, but it has since transpired that he was most likely a Muslim who pretended to convert for asylum reasons, hence the story was dropped by the press.
Nonetheless, a number of other shocking stories emerged in the past week.
In one church in Nice, Muslim college students threatened Catholics during morning prayer:
Another church was targeted with graffiti stating ‘Long Live Islam’.
In another, Satanists attacked the church and stole hosts.
In an incident in Normandy, threats were made to destroy a church:
Lastly, there was an explosion at the Catholic Education offices in Paris, though there has no been no definitive link of intent so far:
