After years of inciting anti Catholic hatred, politicians and journalists must take a good look at themselves today after their rhetoric was matched with violence.
At Galway Barracks last night, a 17 year old with what appears to be terror motives stabbed army chaplain Fr. Paul Murphy.
The apparent terrorist was allegedly heard shouting about Ireland’s role as peacekeepers in the Middle East. If that makes sense.
Soldiers were forced to open fire to stop the assailant, his condition is not known, but it is known that eventually soldiers overpowered and restrained him.
Fr. Murphy is now said to be in a serious condition.
The priest is originally from Waterford but works as an army chaplain and has served on a number of overseas missions with the Irish peacekeeping forces.
Fr. Murphy posted on Facebook to say:
Friends, thank you for your prayers, love, and concern. Sorry that I can't reply to all messages and take all the calls coming my way. I'm doing okay; just awaiting surgery. All will be well.
We will keep you updated on any more developments.
