After their usual pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Częstochowa was cancelled today, Polish football fans gathered instead in their homes cities at Masses that were specially organised to celebrate the occasion.
The pilgrimage normally draws large numbers to the one location, but with ingenuity and determination, they managed to spread the event out rather than cancel it, with only a small number gathering at the Monastery at Jasna Gora where the groups of football fans normally meet.
In a sermon to the faithful today, one priest referred to the fact that the football fans had been on the front lines of opposing George Soros led anti Catholic forces pushing for abortion. Fr. Jaroslaw Wąsowicz stated:
We have to fight for every young man, because so many youths have been fooled today by perverse ideology, so many young people and even children, have been corrupted by vulgar and barbaric hordes, pouring out on the streets and supported by mainstream media. If we don't fight for the youth and raise the next generation, as Poles did, there will be no one to defend Poland and the values that allowed it to survive through centuries of life's winds and storms.
This form of Catholicism is a particularly powerful example in a Europe which has learned to hate itself, its past and its nationhood. These Poles serve as a reminder of the Europe now in danger of fading from memory, one that is based upon Catholicism, family and patriotism.
If only the rest of Europe would follow their example. God please be with Poland as the forces of evil try to rip her apart yet again.
