In the same weekend that he denied public attendance at Easter services, Ireland’s Taoiseach Micheal Martin has been videoed demanding that a woman take her mask off during an inessential service.
Martin can be overheard in the shocking footage saying to the woman ‘You can take off the mask’ despite them being indoors and close to one another.
The insulting act comes a weekend after Martin’s Gardai surrounded the village of Mullahoran in Cavan to stop people from attending Mass in Fr. PJ Hughes’s church there. Martin has also allowed his Gardai to pursue priests who have permitted extra mourners in single digits to funerals or administered Communion.
The time for talking by bishops should be through. Either they will learn to operate within the system as it is, or they will open their churches. Because it is clear that what is being done to us is intentional and without regard for scientific evidence. Either accept it or change it, there is no longer any point in appealing to people who are not acting in good faith.
