Saint Brigid’s Day was recently made a bank holiday in Ireland, in part out of a conflation between the Catholic saint and an unrelated deity with the same nun.
The move to make ‘Brigid’s Day’ was intended to steer people more towards the celebration of this latter figure, yet in reality Irish people have responded very positively to the idea of Saint Brigid as a result.
Despite this, some groups are still trying to use Saint Brigid to further an anti Christian agenda.
The taxpayer funded National Women’s Council of Ireland (NWCI) is one of the most controversial organisations in Ireland, receiving state funding to radically promote fringe elements of feminist ideals while opposing majority voices.
The group are currently battling to win the government’s referendum in March, where the state are seeking to force women out of their homes by economic necessity.
In a bizarrely counter productive move, evidently they think it is still 2018, the group have mocked Saint Brigid’s Day.
Using Saint Brigid’s Cross, the group have called for anti free speech zones to be established near hospitals that abort babies.
On a more comic note, they also appeared to express worries that pregnant men would be disproportionately affected by lack of access to places to abort the baby in their womb.
At this point, there is only one way to change the Ireland brought about by these NGOs and that is at the voting booth.
March 8th you have to chance to tell the NWCI exactly what you think of them mocking our faith.
