Last week, the Ancient Order of Hibernians in the United States put their name to an advertisement that appeared to endorse a Sinn Fein led United Ireland. It was reported across Irish media that ‘Sinn Fein’ had been publishing the ads, under the umbrella group ‘Friends of Sinn Fein’.
The move seemed quite a strange one, considering the fact that Sinn Fein have become arguably Ireland’s most extreme pro abortion party. The words of Bobby Sands, ‘Our revenge will the laughter of our children’, have now been adapted by Sinn Fein to ‘Our revenge will be allowing British owned abortion companies to kill Irish children’. In the proclamation of the Irish Republic, the promise was to ‘cherish all of the children of the nation equally’, for Sinn Fein it is now to ‘abort some children and to allow others to live, at the behest of the British government’. There is no doubt that the initial cause of Irish freedom has now either become secondary, or completely irrelevant, in light of pursuing the cause of abortion. This is true not just of Sinn Fein, but of the Republican movement as a whole.
Mary Lou McDonald, the Sinn Fein leader who has somehow created an air of being rebelliousness amongst the Irish electorate despite her perpetual refusal to offer meaningful opposition to the governments in both Dublin and Westminster, has tweeted:
For anyone who does not know, the bill that she is referring to came from Westminster. A party such as Sinn Fein which claims to be any mix of Republican, Nationalist, Gaelic, Catholic, is now pushing for Westminster to to be allowed to impose abortion on Irish babies, a clear act of treachery against the claims to be all of those identities.
This fact has not been lost on Declan McGuinness, the brother of former Sinn Fein politician Martin McGuinness. McGuinness has pointed out that it is simply dishonest for Sinn Fein to pretend that they are in any way opposed to the Anglicisation of Ireland when they are so keen to import something like abortion.
The likes of the Ancient Order of Hibernians are fooling themselves if they believe that a United Ireland led by Mary Lou McDonald and Sinn Fein would be anything worth fighting for. Her position is not an isolated one, party members chimed in to support her declaration of obedience to Westminster on this issue.
Even more repulsive, this past week Sinn Fein members abstained on a vote on allowing disabled Irish babies to be put to death by abortion in Northern Ireland. They voted for this measure in the South in 2018, voting also to make sure that babies born alive in abortions would be left on tables to die as painfully as possible and denied pain relief.
There is a remnant of Sinn Fein voter which still considers the party to be Catholic. It is anything but. Catholic is some degree of ethnic designation in the North as far as Sinn Fein are concerned, useful for attracting votes and corralling blocs of supporters, but it does not inform their policies whatsoever. It is time for Catholics who are still voting for this party to simply walk away as it has become apparent that they are not welcome.
This particular betrayal is quite comprehensive, in accepting abortion as dictated by Westminster, Mary Lou McDonald is now a servant of a parliament that her party claims not to recognise. She has said that it is ‘unacceptable’ that there have been delays to the provision of widespread abortions in Northern Ireland. Secretary of State Brandon Lewis has echoed these calls.
The numbers of abortions in Northern Ireland in 2019 were such that 4.4% of all pregnancies ended with intentional killing of the unborn child at the hands of the state. Globally, this figure is at 29%. Estimates have predicted that the legalisation of abortion in Northern Ireland and wholesale introduction of baby annihilation mechanisms provided by the state could result in as many as 6,500 abortions per year. That is the number currently being reached since the South introduced its abortion regime. In all, that would lead to at least 12,000 Irish babies being annihilated in the womb across the whole island per year, for a start. Once abortion culture digs in its claws, the government starts to pull back on funding families and the society becomes one of death and misery, anti natalist extremism and hostility to those who are not formed by the culture of individual self service.
The irrationality of Mary Lou’s position is an irrationality shared by groups such as Alliance for Choice, who believe that men can have babies also. They have said of these laws:
too many women and pregnant people are being forced to travel within Northern Ireland and some to England.
The church in Ireland needs to help people to regain their faith, with politics providing a major impediment to that. Those who vote for Ms. McDonald, those who take out ads calling for her to be given reign over a United Ireland, do great harm to the Catholic faith and to the unborn child.
Today, Friends of Sinn Fein USA shared a video calling for a United Ireland once more. A United Ireland where unborn Irish babies are seen as an enemy is not the one that Bobby Sands or anyone else died for.
The entire Republican movement appears to have now decided that they want to be the enforcers of Westminster’s efforts to reduce the native Irish population through abortion, here is another Republican group angrily approaching those trying to stop a prolife group who were opposing the Westminster diktat.
Irish Americans must realise that it is not the 1980s or the 1990s anymore, the Sinn Fein of that era are gone and in their place is a group that offers nothing of merit culturally, spiritually or politically in leading a potential United Ireland.
