Clover Moore is the longest serving Lord Mayor of Sydney.
She is also a self confessed ‘Catholic’ who has made the very original and very unique criticism of not adhering to the ‘institutional church’. Right on sista.
In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, she stated ‘I try to separate my beliefs from the failings of the institutional Church’. She states that she has read at Mass in the past, despite complaints about her taking part in Mardi Gras.
When asked about Christ informing her work she stated:
Well, that’s what Christ was about. He was a real radical. He took on the establishment, threw the money changers out of the temple, and they went after him. He was sort of a radical leading a revolution. The trappings of the Church now would be so out of kilter with the life he led and what he did.
Indeed He did throw the money changers out of the temple. And now Moore is letting them set up shop outside St. Mary’s Cathedral on the first Saturday of Lent.
This is not a free event, this is an event that costs money and it is being organised for the purpose of raising money, with anti Catholicism as the hook towards catching that money.
Ms. Moore is failing in the duty to her Catholic citizens by allowing this to go ahead, why? Because unlike Christ, she is choosing to follow money.
