5 Reasons Why Catholics Should Ignore the Social Democrats

There is no party that better illustrates the brain drain in Irish politics than the Social Democrats.

The Middle Class party was founded in 2015 by now Fianna Failer Stephen Donnelly, the prolifer who is now responsible for implementing abortion, and austerity government veteran Roisin Shortall, with Catherine Murphy also part of its formation.

Since then, the party has specialised in a very generic brand of politics, which specialises in disagreeing with the establishment on only very minute details.

What they have become most passionate about is their opposition to Catholicism, something that has lead to members calling the Gardai on people praying the Rosary, others organising protests at churches and others expressing their desire to ‘cyber bully’ Catholic prelates.

This week, Gary Gannon launched a pathetic attack on the church for not supporting the government’s open borders policy, which is making a fortune for hoteliers up and down the country during quiet season. The hoteliers allow up to hundreds of migrants into their hotels during quiet season for significant amounts of money, securing contracts also to provide food and other services to these migrants. Locals are never consulted and often dealt with in a harsh manner if they object. So far, the government have only moved these migrants, many of whom tear up their passports upon entering Dublin Airport, into working class areas, avoiding affluent liberal areas in South Dublin.

As pointed out by one priest, the church does more than anyone else to take care of not just the migrants brought in by the government to keep this industry going, but also the now record amounts of homeless people.

Just this week, leader Holly Cairns also launched a pointless attack on Catholic education. Pointless because the majority of Dioceses have found that parents simply do not want divestment, they trust Catholic education to provide for their children better than what is on offer from the Social Democrats or others in the establishment.

With those in mind, here are 10 incidents which highlight the reasons for Catholics to ignore this micro party:

  1. Threatening the Sacraments.

The Social Democrats have indicated that they would bring Confession under State regulation.

We will just leave this one here.

2. Opposing the Rosary.

English raised Limerick Councillor Elisa O’Donovan is filmed here alerting Gardai to people praying the Rosary. Really.

3. They openly brag about ‘cyber bullying’ Catholics.

Party leader Holly Cairns even made a deranged threat regarding unborn children.

4. Blaming the church for government failures.

Social Democrats founder Roisin Shortall was part of the cruel government initiated in 2011, which set about implementing a brutal policy of austerity on behalf of the bailout for bankers. Shortall was Minister for Primary Care at a time when the Irish Health Service began a period of decline with significant cuts.

Despite this, Shortall has had the nerve to criticise the church for the health system that she did not fix.

Likewise, Gary Gannon has criticised the church for apparently not supporting the government’s hotelier driven migration economy.

Leader Holly Cairns has also criticised the church for not handing over more schools to the state, despite parents having absolutely no faith in the new patronage bodies and preferring to stay with Catholic ones instead.

The greatest irony is that Gannon is here squabbling about the internal affairs of the church while Shortall calls for the opposite.

5. They are cringe.
