Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Ireland has just managed to get rid of Leo Varadkar and now his successor looks set to have all of his bad traits and none of his redeeming ones.
Simon Harris’s reign as Minister For Health was so disastrous that it brought down the last government, triggering elections in 2020.
His track record has been absolutely deplorable.
In 2011, Harris wrote to the Pro Life Campaign to inform them that he would be a prolife politician.
To call this a lie would be an understatement, it is a type of fraud that should lead to politicians having to forfeit their seats before running again under a different promise.
When elected, Harris eventually supported abortion, to such an extent that he parroted false stories promoted by anonymous Antifa accounts.
Harris also once used national media to attack a local parish in Tullamore (not even in his constituency). Harris was irate that a priest had informed his parishioners about church teaching on IVF, coincidentally as the government had signed lucrative contracts with IVF dealers.
Harris also came under fire for posing in photographs with a controversial gender surgeon who has been the subject of international notoriety.
Harris is known for saying anything that suits his agenda, in 2018 he even claimed that women never ‘demand’ an abortion.
Catholics and prolife people can expect aggressive persecution under a Harris reign as Taoiseach if his track record is anything to go by, with Harris likely to seek the legalisation of Euthanising elderly and sick people as a progressive feather in his cap.
Two saving graces are that Harris rarely stays through to his promises and that this term will likely be very short with a general election impending.
