French news outlet La Tribune is reporting that they have received word of Pope Francis’s intention to travel to Paris for the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral on December 8th.
It is expected that Pope Francis will take part in the Mass, even though the cardinal of Paris may be the chief celebrant.
The visit comes amidst a slew of church burnings and attacks in Paris and will represent a rare visit by Francis to a major city and indeed, a major cathedral.
Hopefully this reopening can awake something in the soul of the church’s eldest daughter.
