When Cardinal George Pell died last year after a hip operation, the story was somewhat more muted than it might have been had it not occurred within days of the passing of Pope Benedict XVI.
Pell had made headlines in the years previous after being imprisoned after a kangaroo show trial in Australia, in which the media and police conspired to frame him and have him put away in prison.
He was eventually exonerated after his trial.
In a shocking new interview, chief Vatican auditor Libero Milone said that there are many irregular aspects of Pell’s death, including that the CCTV was turned off in the hospital and that there were no doctors on duty to assist Pell. He also alleges that Pell’s body remained undressed and unminded for days prior to autopsy.
