In a generic and dismissive email to people who had complained about a hate piece broadcast across TG4’s social media channels, the once respected station laughed off criticism of its explicitly sectarian broadcast by stating:
BLOC is an online only sub-brand of TG4 for young audiences who are interested in unique, entertaining, controversial content online. The video in question is in the ASMR style which is a popular online video trend. There are very few ASMR Irish language videos available online for the target audience. TG4 upholds the editorial decision to broadcast this content on BLOC platforms for the target audience.
The email did not address the fact that the broadcast clearly contravened the station’s content guidelines which states:
'Reflecting a range of views does not allow for the incitement of hatred towards any
group on the basis of their ethnic origin, nationality, religion, race, gender, sexual
orientation, marital status, disability, illness, age or membership of the travelling
community'.
Catholics should not tolerate hate being broadcast with their money, even worse, their defence is that it’s acceptable because it targets children.
Do not waste any more time sending complaints to TG4, some success was had with complaints to the BAI regarding RTE’s recent attack on Catholics.

Should @TG4TV be stripped of taxpayer funding because of their anti Catholic bigotry? @alan_esslemont
