Ireland is currently conducting a Joint Committee on Assisted Suicide, which will consider possibly legalising a Canada style system where homelessness, poverty and other social problems are given as reasons for people to avail of assisted suicide.
One person who gave evidence to the committee was Elma Walsh, mother of inspirational teen Donal, who bravely fought a public battle with cancer in such a way as to dramatically reduce suicide in his native Kerry by inspiring others to continue to live.
